Belbroughton
Scarecrow
Festival

23rd & 24th SEPTEMBER
2023
We believe ours is the biggest Scarecrow Festival in the UK and it's certainly the best!

Belbroughton CE Primary School and Nursery

Set in spacious grounds with its own conservation area, wildlife 'meadow' and pond, Belbroughton Primary School looks every inch the traditional village school.

Strong links with Holy Trinity Church and the local community ensure that the school is integral to life within the village -and that's just how everyone wants it be!

Head teacher Mr Derek Higgins said, "Our school has a wonderful family atmosphere where the children blossom into caring and responsible young people. Children join us from 3 years old and stay until they are 11 and there's always lots going on."

One major new change that took place during the summer holidays is the transformation of the front reception entrance into a wonderfully light and airy space that can be enjoyed by everyone. Pupils are also delighted that the toilets have also been given a makeover too!

The advantage of having just 157 pupils the role is that class sizes can be kept small - but low pupil numbers doesn't mean reduced facilities: the school is able to offer 'wrap around' care from 8am to 6pm along with a nursery facility that's shared by the not-for-profit "First Steps" Nursery.

Small it seems is indeed best as, with just 157 pupils aged from 3 to 11, the school ranks amongst the top 20% of schools in England. It is also part of the Hagley Pyramid so that pupils who live within the catchment area go on to gain places at Haybridge High School in Hagley.

One of the highlights of the school year is the Scarecrow Festival and once again pupils, parents and teachers have joined forces to create around 25 scarecrows. "We love to get involved and put something back into the festival as the school receives a substantial donation from the event," said Mr Higgins. "Every year we're able to buy all sorts of additional equipment for the children that enhances their learning - from books and computers to outdoor play equipment and even a special story chair."

The school always extends a warm welcome to visitors and prospective pupils and currently has limited spaces for year 5 pupils only. For more information call: 01562 730208 or visit the school's website on: www.belbroughton-school.co.uk
